Pedagogy
The pedagogy associated with this learning experience is based on constructivist learning theory.  Students involved in the pilot study were told that six artefacts from the Parthenon would be used in a museum display.  The participants were given images of the artefacts.  The goal was to find each in the virtual space, then gather and record information on a work sheet.  A map of the Parthenon, including the location of all information markers was provided to reduce the probability of becoming lost.  The artefact activity was designed to facilitate engagement in virtual learning environment for one hour.
