Across the harsh, arid desert they trekked, searching for a refuge. The narrow canyons offered protection from the searing sun and the worst of the wind. So the down-trodden, unwelcome everywhere else, built their refuge high on the canyon walls; out of reach of people who would seek to interfere. A VCTF map for 8-12 players set in a canyon allowing for strong engagement of both ground-based and airborne vehicles. Interweaving paths provide for a high degree of interaction; effective use of the cicada and raptor is crucial to success. Refuge was awarded first place in the Best vCTF and Warfare category and second place in the Best Graphics in Map of phase 3 of the Make Something Unreal contest.
